Valencia Bookstore Retail Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
The University of New Mexico Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located in beautiful rural Valencia County. With an emphasis in teaching excellence, the Valencia campus offers vocational and technical courses, as well as academic courses to the citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of about 2,000 each semester. The campus is located 30 miles south of Albuquerque.
The UNM Valencia Branch Campus Bookstore is seeking a Retail Manager to manage all of the daily operations of the Bookstore, to include purchasing textbooks, clothing, snack items, supplies, payables and budgets. This individual will oversee and coordinate inventory control, such as receiving, textbook returns, shipping, periodic physical inventory, and minimizing shrinkage. The candidate will promote the retail marketing activities for the Bookstore to include advertising and sales promotion, public relations, visual merchandising and/or special marketing events while maintaining excellent profit margins and keeping textbook costs low. This individual will supervise personnel, produce fiscal and administrative reports, and develop and implement policies and procedures within UNM guidelines and Federal and State Laws. This individual will have excellent communication and teamwork skills and be student focused.
This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED with 3 to 5 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field.
KNOWLEDGEABLE AND/OR PROFICIENCY WITH:
- Nebraska WinPrism Bookstore Management
- System SunGard Higher Education Banner Unified Digital Campus collegiate administrative suite.
- Textbook buyback experience in a University setting, at least three to five years.
EXPERIENCE WITH/IN:
- Textbook purchasing.
- Managing a Bookstore, including purchasing a variety of inventory, special orders, receiving and shipping, and return of overstocked or defective merchandise.
- Overseeing maintenance of inventory, stock, displays, and signs, managing year-end inventory utilizing computer system; accountability for theft and shrinkage.
- Overseeing and coordinating Bookstore marketing activities, to include advertising and sales promotion, public relations, visual merchandising, and/or special marketing events. Knowledge of retail floor merchandising and stock control procedures.
- Supervising personnel including hiring, firing, performance evaluation coaching, training, work allocation and problem resolution.
